Furnishing a New House
The best part about moving into a new house is picking out all the furnishings and decorations. But it can get pricey and confusing, with so many options out there to choose from. There are so many things to consider: sofas, beds, desks, curtains, carpets, paint. But it helps to break down your tasks into the separate rooms of your new space. Let’s take a look at the some of the more prominent areas of the home worth tackling first.
- The Bedroom. Clearly, this is the most important room in the house, starting the day you move in. You’ll want a warm, relaxing environment, with neutral colours on the walls, but the option for bursts of colour on your bed sheets, curtains, and other bits and pieces, like vases or lamps.
- The Kitchen. Creativity can be easily used in the kitchen, with tiles and appliances especially. Aim for fun, bright colours with functional furniture and built-ins. Hanging pots and pans from a rack above the stove or sink is a great space saver and a wonderful wall decoration.
- The Entrance. The entrance to your home is one of the most neglected spaces in the house, where most people dump shoes/keys/coats. Keep it organised and clean so that it feels welcoming upon arrival, to both you and your guests.
