Why Ski in Val D’Isere in the French Alps

Unrivaled amongst most celebrated skiing resorts, Val d’Isre sports 474 kilometers of trails. The ski season starts in November and ends in mid May. The high altitude resort caters everything for you. The village extends along the valley from La Daille as far as Le Fornet with the focus and the apres ski in the centre Val Village. The clustering of pretty chalets contain dapper boutiques most of which have arisen since Val d’Isere was chosen for the Winter Olympics.

Split into 3 areas the town has ample runs for all skiers. With a great snow record, the town is tremendously popular amongst pro skiers and motorway skiing intermediates, but you do not need to be particularly experienced to enjoy what is there. It is easy to why a lot of Brits are attracted to the town, with its exciting apres ski and the wide variety of entertainment on offer, however the near proximity of Tignes permits you to head out to quieter areas if it all begins to get all too much.



Pros


A superior night out in France. Easily accessible from Geneva airport. Everyone speaks English. Easy entrance to both Val d’Isre and Tignes known collectively as the Espace Killy ski area. There’s lots of traffic and although there are many buses in the day, committed party animmals had better aim to be within a short walking distance from the centre.



Cons


Dear. Busy and very popular with English tourists, thus not for those seeking a typical French ski resort to relish a calming vacation. A lot of lifts can close in bad conditions. A few challenging blue and green slopes.
